Natural from Caracas, Sauris Lugo has 18 years of professional experience in architecture and construction management. She attended Simon Bolivar University majoring in Architecture. Her undergraduate Thesis received Honorary Mentions both at the university and the Salon Malaussena, Venezuela’s most respected architectural competition.
Early in her career, her work focused on the symbiosis between architecture and billboards. She began collaborating as an assistant and lead Architect on medium-scale commercial projects, to include shopping centers, movie theaters, casinos and nightclubs. She also designed and supervised several small residential projects, from apartment renovations to larger-scale single-family residences, with budgets up to $1.5 Million. Two of these residential projects were featured in the 2004 and 2006 Quito Architecture Biennales. In 2010, she established an independent architectural design and construction firm in Venezuela where she specialized in commercial projects, such as a $4.5 Million marketplace expansion and a $12 Million office building overhaul. Other work includes store layouts for two apparel retail chains and renovating a construction materials showroom without interrupting their operations. Her work experience won her an invitation to teach undergraduate courses in Architectural Design and Construction Management for about 3 years at her Alma Mater.
After relocating to South Florida, Sauris joined JAE Restaurant Group to establish and lead a Real Estate Development team. Within 7 years, she has overseen 50 restaurant remodels and developed 37 new sites. She is proud of introducing a strategic approach to the acquisition process and reducing the development cost by over 20%.
